The Sea-Stone Sword
By Joel Cornah
“Heroes are more than just stories, they’re people. And people are complicated, people are strange. Nobody is a hero through and through, there’s always something in them that’ll turn sour. You’ll learn it one day. There are no heroes, only villains who win.”
Rob Sardan is going to be a hero. But there are no heroes; only villains who win.
Exiled to a distant and violent country, Rob is forced to fight his closest friends for survival and recognition. He has to grow up fast as news comes that the immortal Pirate Lord, Mothar, has come out of the shadows. Convinced he is next on the kill list, Rob is thrown into the quest for the only weapon that could take Mothar down; the Sea-Stone Sword. Yet his wild endeavours take poisonous turns and the line between hero and villain is blurred.
Joel has created a rich, well thought out, and wonderful world. Full of pirates, dinosaurs (sorry, Joel, we meant ‘pterodactyls’) and pengs, it’s impossible not to love this coming-of-age story.
