Just A Quickie… Oh Matron!
Here at KI HQ, we’ve been busy kitties. With acquisitions, expansion, new releases and conventions – time has flown by and left us playing catch up. So, if you’re wondering what’s going on – please accept our apologies! We’re now working flat out to clear any backlog and start 2014 with a bang.
At the end of October, we attended our first convention – World Fantasy Con in Brighton. It was a great experience, and something we’re definitely going to repeat. Sam will be attending FantasyCon and BristolCon (with the possibility of others) next year and hopefully, much fun will follow! We want to say a big thank you to Joanne Hall. She was an absolute star and played ‘con-mummy’ very well. She even brought hotel room yummy snacks. Good stuff.
Oh, and do you remember our flash fiction competition? Well, we got to meet one of our guest judges at the weekend and he’s as loud and entertaining in person as he is on social media. In fact, we discussed the high quality of stories we received and he was genuinely impressed with the overall talent. Especially our winner: A.F.E Smith – so congrats again, A.F.E and we hope the e-reader has come in handy!
It was lovely to meet people who had genuinely heard of Kristell Ink and Grimbold Books. So thank you everyone for talking about us, tweeting about us, sharing our statuses and supporting us during our first year. Word of mouth is priceless, and it is appreciated more than you know.
Our sister imprint, Tenebris Books, is preparing for their first publication: an anthology of traditionally inspired fairytales with each story beautifully illustrated. We’ve read the stories and seen some of the pictures and it’s going to be a thing of beauty. We’d LOVE to share something with you – but we’re not allowed to just yet , and that’s exceptionally frustrating. We shall continue to whine until we get our way.
Ken Dawson has been working hard on some new logos for us… the reason? Well… that will be released very soon on www.grimboldbooks.com – so please keep your eyes peeled.
Want a hint? Oh, ok then… we will be opening submissions soon… but with quite specific criteria.
Next up… a blog post from Dean Lombardo detailing his most recent book signing… watch this space.
